The New York Times Presents its NYT Audio App Software

The New York Times recently announced that it is finally launching its highly anticipated NYT Audio app, which is available to download on iOS currently. The digital software is made up of audio journalism including podcasts from the Serial Productions and Athletic in one spot.

The app was first previewed back in 2021 and acts as a way to give journalists more liberty to experiment beyond the limits set in place by Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Deputy Managing Editor at the Times Sam Dolnick speaks to Axios, stating "This is a canvas for all of those audio stories the newsroom wants to tell but didn't quite have outlets for it before." In addition to the podcasts, the app will also have new content such as short audio pieces of journalists retelling ways they have reported recent stories.
