General Motors is bringing an AI voice assistant to the 2027 ‘Cadillac Lyriq,’ letting drivers speak naturally to adjust cabin settings, check driving range and get explanations for warning lights without digging through menus. The ‘OnStar AI Assistant’ wakes with ‘Hey, OnStar’ and will reach the electric SUV in the coming months through an over-the-air update.
Because it draws on live vehicle data such as tire pressure and charging status, the system can answer route questions and map charging stops mid-drive. The ‘Lyriq’ is first in line for the feature, with additional GM vehicles set to follow. An OnStar Advisor can step in when the AI cannot provide a clear answer.
An over-the-air rollout that starts with the ‘Lyriq’ turns voice control into a software upgrade GM can extend across its lineup without waiting for a full hardware change. Native access to range, charging and cabin functions moves in-car AI toward a built-in service layer buyers may start to expect.
