Regal Cinemas started the 'My Way Matinee' program -- a sensory-friendly movie screening program. For anyone with a sensory processing disorder such as autism or other special needs, lighting and loud sounds in movie theaters can be a harrowing experience. The group decided that everyone should be able to enjoy viewing an exciting new movie at the cinema and created a program that features brighter lights and lower sounds.
New releases such as Christopher Robin and The Incredibles 2 will be playing, giving children the chance to sing, dance and shout freely along with characters from the film. Offering showings once a month at 10:30am with tickets for $6.50 each, the My Way Matinee program aims to provide the safest space to watch a movie, creating positive and lasting memories for all.
