Musical Swing Installations

These Musical Swings Require Participant Cooperation to Play Music

These musical swings are a public installation entitled 'The Swings: An Exercise in Musical Cooperation' and they offer exactly that.

From afar the swings do not appear to be anything out of the ordinary, except for their modern appearance. In reality, they are actually able to play music if the people swinging manage to coordinate their movements correctly. Each of these swings plays music from four different music instruments -- the harp, vibraphone, guitar and piano. Once the individuals start swinging, the instruments make noise, allowing for the people swinging to create their own melodies which are composed by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh.

This unique art installation featuring musical swings is playful, yet also manages to make a statement about human cooperation with its interactive concept.
