Accessibility-Enhancing Public Art Installations

Isometric Studio Presents Cloud Swing

Isometric Studio's Cloud Swing is a public art installation designed to enhance accessibility, community interaction, mindfulness, and play. The monumental sculpture features wheelchair-accessible swings and plank swings suspended from a cloud-shaped canopy made of curved steel pipe. The vibrant and inclusive space, which Isometric Studio painted an electric blue, fosters communal encounters and challenges the conventional view of accessibility as an obstacle to good design.

Nestled among trees at Grounds for Sculpture, Cloud Swing serves as a site for community gathering, rest, and imagination, promoting individual representation and visibility for people with disabilities.

Isometric Studio developed the project with support from the Wellcome Trust Mindscapes program and INCLUDEnyc, collaborating with activist Trina Hazell and partnering with Serett Metalworks for engineering and fabrication. The installation symbolizes a commitment to an accessible, inclusive, and creatively designed future.
