Children-Designed Pavilions

Hi Ladders High Shows How Design Can Shape Inclusive Public Spaces

Hi Ladders High is an award-winning pavilion that proves imagination can achieve more than budgets. Designed from ideas sketched by children, the project was realized with just $1,000 using glulam timber and woven mesh fabrics. The result reflects both resourcefulness and the creativity of youth, transforming a small investment into a meaningful public landmark.

The pavilion’s open frame and mesh cladding invite light, shadow, and air to interact with the structure. Seasonal breezes flow through while patterns shift across the surfaces, offering a dynamic experience. Small seating areas are integrated to encourage gathering, rest, and play for visitors of all ages. More than a shelter, the pavilion is a participatory design statement that celebrates inclusivity and youthful vision.
