Located in the heart of Berlin, Museum Island plays host to the legendary bust of Nefertiti and the Pergamon Altar. Home to five distinct museums, including the Pergamonmuseum, Bode-Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie and Altes Museum, the island is truly one of a kind. Admission gives visitors access to all the museums on the island and entry is free for all visitors under the age of 18.
Known officially as Museum Island by the late 1870s, the island was founded as a place to give the general public access to collections of art and historically important items. Each of the museums on the island features a generous mix of art and history, including the Ishtar Gate, Byzantine art, classical antiques and Etruscan artwork.
