Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

The Modern Milkman Collections Service is for Toys and E-Waste

— February 20, 2026 — Eco
The Modern Milkman Collections Service has been created by the sustainable doorstop delivery service as an extension of its model to help consumers deal with an ever-expanding amount of household waste. The service will accept pre-loved toys, small electrical components, cables and general e-waste to provide consumers with a way to deal with harder-to-recycle items. The service will see toys in good condition forwarded to Toys4Life, while electrical waste and mixed waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is processed onsite by EMR.

Founder and CEO Simon Mellin commented on the Modern Milkman Collections Service saying, "Every household has the same hidden problem – a drawer full of old wires and chargers, a bag full of clothes that no longer fit, cupboards of toys and games that never get used. As parents and consumers, we care about the world and want to do the right thing, but life is busy and good intentions often sit in cupboards. Modern Milkman started with a simple mission: reduce waste by changing everyday habits.”
Trend Themes
1. Circular Pickup Services - Aggregation of household items via routine doorstep collection supports systems for refurbishment, resale and material recirculation at scale.
2. Doorstep E-waste Collection - Scheduled collection of small electricals and cables creates concentrated feedstocks for localized WEEE processing and component recovery operations.
3. Retail-linked Reuse Channels - Partnerships between delivery retailers and charities or refurbishers enable streamlined redirection of pre-loved products into secondhand markets.
Industry Implications
1. Waste Management - Localized processing of mixed household e-waste opens opportunities for micro-scale recycling hubs that recover higher-value materials closer to source.
2. Toy and Secondhand Goods Redistribution - Channeling quality used toys through curated redistribution networks supports circular revenue models and extended product lifecycles.
3. Last-mile Sustainable Logistics - Integration of collection services into existing delivery routes enables consolidation of reverse logistics and reduces incremental carbon cost of returns.
