To get people charged up about the launch of the Volkswagen e-Golf model in Norway, Volkswagen set up a unique mobile car ad. With the e-Golf app, Norwegians could charge up their phones and at the same time, collect a raffle ticket for the chance to win an e-Golf of their very own. A few extra raffle tickets could also be earned by signing up for a test drive of the car, as well as sharing the app with others on social networks.
Since the e-Golf is an electric vehicle, this is a clever way to make use of the hardware in smartphones that is used to charge up a battery. As a result of the e-Golf app, Volkswagen reports an all-time high in sign ups for test drives.
