Local interior studio Flooat designs the Mitsui & Co office, which is located in Tokyo and is defined by lush plants and additional gravel beds for a nature theme. The real estate company office is on the third floor and is found within a special district of Tokyo. The aim by the studio sets out to bring new purposes to the building which was first built in the 80s by creating a working environment that would be cherished throughout longer periods of time.
The studio tells Dezeen "In this project, we aimed to create a space that is considerate to both people and the environment by updating the charm of an old building and showing its new value in Tokyo, where there is a notably high rebuilding rate. The walls are constructed to match the architectural module, giving a sense of depth while dead-end flow lines have been eliminated so that the space can be viewed from various angles. The result is a harmony of function and aesthetic with a clean, simple look."
