Sincere Justice's MISTER BOLENCA is located in the middle of West Berkeley and it has mastered the craft of creating an Asian-inspired sandwich. The bright flavors infuse Justice's background of growing up in a Chinese-Vietnamese immigrant family that resided in Baldwin Park, which is predominantly a Mexican location in LA. His weekends were comprised of Mexican food with his peers, while dining with his family meant more Cantonese and Vietnamese eats. Justice embarked on his travels throughout Latin America and Asia to broaden his palette. The name MISTER BOLENCA references Baldwin Park, as it is often called "Bolen Park." Justice added "CA" at the end as a nod to California.
An example of an Asian-inspired sandwich on the menu is the Thai beef sandwich, which has beer-braised brisket and red curry with guajillo peppers -- flavors that nod to both Asian and Latin cultures.
