Created with the goal of circumventing a system of regulation that tends to exploit the dairy farmer, this milk vending machine is a 24 hour alternative from a cooperative of local Greek farmers. The milk vending machine is a way for Greek dairy farmers to cut out the intermediate person in the process and take back some of the power in the market.
The cooperative, the first of its kind for dairy farmers in Greece, was founded in 2010 as a means of defending the interests of its members and being able to provide quality cow milk products to consumers at fair prices.
The milk vending machine is a great example of community-minded individuals doing what they can to champion ideas of sustainability and supporting local.
