Nestlé and QYOS by Algramo Created Refillable Vending Machines

Nestlé and QYOS by Algramo have collaborated on a new refillable vending machines trial that's taking place at two retailers in Indonesia as a way to combat against disposable packaging.

The trial consists of machines that require shoppers to provide their own containers before selecting the product they'd like to purchase. The machine features clear visuals to communicate the products available and are also fitted with QR codes to let shoppers simply scan them to be provided with nutritional information, ingredients and shelf life.

Head of R&D Packaging at Nestlé Gaelle de Mestral spoke on the refillable vending machines trial saying, "We are actively exploring innovative, alternative delivery systems such as bulk, reuse and refill options across several product categories. By undertaking this second pilot for Milo and Koko Krunch, we’ll be able to gain new insights that can be applied to our products, as well further assess the refillable system’s effectiveness in preventing packaging waste along the supply chain.”
