To put a fresh spin on the classic beef Wellington, Tastemade shared a recipe for a 'Meatball Wellington,' which reintroduces the dish in a bite-sized, Italian-inspired format.
Traditionally, a beef Wellington is prepared with a piece of steak that has been coated in a pâté that is encased in a baked puff pastry. Although beef and puff pastry are still key parts of the Meatball Wellington recipe, it is remixed with staples of Italian cuisine like fresh basil, shredded mozzarella, parsley, Parmesan and a bed of red tomato sauce for serving.
As the finished result features a single meatball, sauce and a sprinkling of cheese, the experience of eating the Meatball Wellington might seem like a pared-back Italian pasta dish, but without any noodles at the base of the meal.
