Joanna Laajisto Designed a Furniture Line for Made by Choice

Joanna Laajisto, a designer based in Helsinki crafts a collection of ash wood furniture for Finnish brand Made by Choice. Laajisto draws inspiration from classic Scandinavian holiday cabins when creating the line of wooden pieces. She re-imagines the holiday cabins from a contemporary perspective and from that, creates a two-piece collection consisting of a bench and a side table. The ash wood collection will present itself at Stockholm Design Week from February 5 to February 11.

Laajisto states that her pieces for Made by Choice can function as stools, tables, or simply as decorative statements. She states, "A good product has to fit in different environments from the modern and minimalist to rich and classical." The collection is crafted in the color selection of light wooden color, natural wood, or a stained black. Laajisto explains that the natural ash wood highlights the features of the wood, whereas the stained black focuses on the shape of the piece.
