As an alternative to using aluminum foil wrapping to contain a solid stick of butter, Lurpak developed the Lurpak Butterbox. The recloseable box doesn't stick to the sides of the butter, which already makes it a cleaner packaging solution on top of the fact that foil wrappings are prone to tearing and crumpling as they are used each time.
The origami-like box is folded in such a way so that the lifting of the lid lets the portion cradling the block of butter splay outwards, which makes cutting the desired amount a mess-free process. Thanks to the box's intuitive design, it can be just as easily reclosed after use, helping to keep messes off of countertops, fingers and fridge shelves.
