3D-Printed Lampshades

Plumen Now Offers 3D-Printed Lampshades for Its Low-Energy Lightbulbs

Plumen is a designer of low-energy lightbulbs known for its sculptural aesthetic. Recently, the company teamed up with Formaliz3d, to create a 3D-printed lampshade called the Kayan. The lampshade, much like Plumen's products, features a curvaceous design.

The sloping silhouettes of the Kayan are intended to complement the shapes of the Baby Plumen 001 and the Original Plumen 002 bulbs. The sides of the shade are punctured, allowing for the release of light, as well as a clear view of the lightbulb underneath. The perforations also create interesting shadows, which add a unique touch to any space in which it's displayed.

This unique lampshade indicates the ways in which 3D printing can further customize products for consumers, a quality that is especially desirable for homeowners.
