When function and artistic form work together, you end up with something like the Loopita Bonita Lounger. This twisted two-seater is constructed of a coil of wooden ribbing that creates a lovely ring, extending into two individual recliners.
Designed by Victor M. Aleman, the spiral chair has both a sculptural charm as well as a practical one. Acting as a piece of outdoor art, the object performs quite effectively to provide a shape comfortable to the relaxed human form, while the top of the arc may block out undesired sun.
Given that the two seats of the Loopita Bonita Lounger face opposite directions, it actually makes the item significantly more social. Both reposers can talk to one another -- and perhaps one is as fond of shade as the other is of rays.
