Miray Ozlem ER Designs the Caterpillar Lounge Chair

— January 23, 2024 — Art & Design
Design studio Miray Ozlem ER creates the Caterpillar Lounge chair which is a dynamic furniture that is inspired by elements of nature. The lounge chair is unique as it appears to be a juxtaposing structure that is both comfortable and unsettling all at once.

When first looking at the chair, it seems to be unconventional and composed of a series of rope-like tubes across a metal frame. However, when examining the chair further, one would find that the aforementioned fabric rubes are soft and cushioned for a comfortable feel. This is made from a sponge material that allows sit to be soft yet full at once. The overall piece is meant to resemble a caterpillar entering its cocoon phase.
