'Sofie' is an intuitive mobile app that comes from LifeLearn that uses crowdsourcing, big data and IBM Watson to improve the pet care that veterinarians are able to offer.
The app begins by collecting data from the American Animal Hospital Association, The Animal Medical Center in New York City and the Ontario Veterinary Group and more. Since this can be an overwhelming amount of data to sift through, veterinarians are simply able to ask Sofie a question in their own language. With its natural language processing capabilities, IBM Watson is able to scan hundreds of thousands of medical research documents in order to make suggestions for the most relevant treatment options for a pet in need of veterinary care.
