This series of portrait busts is the work of artist Jon Rafman. Entitled "New Age Demanded", the conceptual sculptures are inspired by the poem "Hugh Selwyn Mauberly" by Ezra Pound.
The written work tells the story of a poet who tries to express himself through his art while living in an age of ignorance. Much like its inspiration, this set of modern bust sculptures dares to push boundaries and is representative of art that rejects tradition.
"The busts of form the series have a strong relationship with time and form. They capture the accelerated movement of an instant and freeze it, as if in the middle of its transformation." Moreover, the masterpieces play with proportion and illustrate complex dimensional and textural properties.
