Uber's New Chat Function Simplifies Passenger-Driver Interactions

Uber is simplifying driver-passenger interactions with a new in-app chat function that allows passengers to contact their drivers in a more streamlined manner that privileges privacy.

Previously, if passengers needed to contact their driver, they would have to text them, subsequently giving their phone number to someone they didn't know. Uber acknowledged the inconvenience and intimacy of this method of communication and hopes the in-app chat makes for a more convenient and private experience.

Once on the Uber feed, users can access the in-app chat by tapping "contact" followed by "chat." This newly launched function addresses one of the privacy hurdles the company has received criticism for, and represents the company's commitment to customer satisfaction.
