Architectural Archetype-Themed Homes

Eek en Dekkers Designs the House R in the Netherlands

Dutch architectural office Eek en Dekkers finishes its new barn-themed house dubbed the House R located in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The studio is led by Piet Hein Eek and architect Iggie Dekkers who were looking to create a simplistic home that has large social spaces, whilst also having space to nourish alone time as well.

Dekker talks about the home to Dezeen, he states that "The barn distinguishes itself from the environment by its simplicity and a 100 percent focus on the quality for the family who lives in it. The nice thing about a barn is that it's made in a pragmatic manner in terms of costs and durability. Normally barns have rough details, but our challenge was to create really refined details with industrial material."
