Irregularly Stacked Exhibition Spaces

The Harbour Experience Center is Designed by the MVRDV Firm

Designed by MVRDV, the Harbour Experience Center comprises five irregularly stacked boxes. Set to be built for the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, the center is expected to be completed by 2024. This unique layout will act as an exhibition space and a visitor center for the site.

MVDRV designed the twisted building to stand out from its low-lying surroundings. Due to its design, the windows offer a panoramic view of the coast and the port. The goal is to nod at the "dramatic presence" and industrial heritage of the Port of Rotterdam by crafting the building with pared-back, low-cost, and recycled materials. In addition to its industrial features, rooftop solar panels will be used to help power the building.
