The result of the collaboration between Empire Collection and New York-based interior designer Ghislaine Viñas is a line of four handmade rug designs, with a collective aesthetic that relies on geometric shapes and bold colorings.
Launched under the names 'Vestry,' 'West Side,' 'Tribeca' and 'Freeman Alley,' each piece is inspired by Ghislaine Viñas' "memories of living in [New York City] for 28 years." The handmade rug designs tell a captivating narrative by way of abstract shapes and patterns that could be linked to the architecture, layout or vibe of a city neighborhood. For example, the West Side carpet draws inspiration from "Viñas’ own 8th floor loft with the busy traffic on the West Side highway contrasting the slow pace of the Hudson River."
