Explicit Wear Joined Iamsterdam and Gumdrop to Create the 'Gumshoe'

Designer Explicit Wear worked alongside city marketing group Iamsterdam and sustainability firm Gumdrop to collaborate on the creation of the 'Gumshoe.' The Gumshoe is created from recycled gum, with the entire sole constructed from recyclable compounds, recognized as 'Gum-Tec' produced by Gumdrop -- comprised of 20% pure gum. Chances are that chewed-up gum has found its way onto the bottom of your shoes, and it costs a lot of money for the city to clean up. This new approach offers an eco-friendly option, as every four pairs of Gumshoe uses up approximately 2.2 pounds of recycled gum.
The recycled chewing gum is drawn straight from the streets of Amsterdam, where there is an estimate of over 3.3 million pounds of gum annually. The rest of the sneakers are constructed from leather materials and have the colorway options of either black, red or bubblegum pink. The Gumshoe will be available for purchase beginning in June for the price of $232.
