Guest Harbor is a unique architectural project, developed by architecture office VisionDivision, that envisions boats as side houses. The project came about in response to a new building code that allows for the construction of a 25 square meter dwelling attachment on residential properties without having to apply for a separate building permit.
This proposal envisions an evolution to the typical side house by using under-used boats in suburban yards. This approach could be used to add pools, ponds and even high-strength fountains.
Guest Harbor makes for a cheaper and more creative alternative to the standard Swedish side house, and pays tribute to the country's boating culture while taking into account the high number of under-used vessels there.
