Two-Ingredient Hot Cereals

This Cereal Introduces Quinoa and Rice Grains for for Breakfast

Oats are one of the most well-known grains for breakfast, but Trader Joe's now hopes to introduce consumers to a satisfying alternative with its Organic Rice & Quinoa Hot Cereal.

The simple two-ingredient product is made with just organic whole grain brown rice grits and organic quinoa flakes, which provide four grams of protein and two grams of fiber per serving. Preparing the hot cereal for breakfast is as easy as adding water, and optionally salt, and warming the meal up in the microwave or the stovetop.

In terms of taste, Trader Joe's describes that "had Miss Muffet been eating this stuff instead of a boring bowl of curds and whey, not even an oversized tarantula could have frightened her away." As both rice and quinoa lend themselves well to sweet and savory applications, Trader Joe's notes that the grains for breakfast pair well with everything from berries and chocolate to Thanksgiving leftovers, eggs or cheese.
