Illusionary Interactive Murals

Artist Ge Kuo Draws Himself Next to His Heroes

Better known by his alias Ge Kuo, this artist gives the term "throwing yourself into your work" a whole new meaning.

A graduate art student at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Ge Kuo is gaining a lot of praise and recognition for these photographs that show him interacting with large scale drawings of well-known comic book and anime figures. Ge Kuo creates this illusionary-type effect by first creating life-size renditions onto walls. Once completed he takes two photographs: one of the drawing itself, and another of him posing next to it. Ge Kuo then skillfully merges and manipulates the two photographs using Photoshop.

Many young kids imagine themselves standing next to and interacting with their favorite cartoon characters. It would seem that Ge Kuo has managed to make this a reality for himself.
