Furnishing Utopia's Jean Lee Displays Furniture for Public Use

Furniture for public use is an important feature of any urban city and such pieces need to be accessible and inviting. As metropolitan centers rapidly expand, a real struggle between the availability of public and privately accessed land manifests itself. Some architects, like Jean Lee of Furnishing Utopia, are attempting to address this tension. The New York City-based designer recently unveiled an exhibition of furniture for public use at the Naval Cemetery Landscape for New York Design Week. Featuring a total of "35 projects 5 projects designed to respond to locales in the United States, United Kingdom, Vietnam, and nine other nations," the exhibition is aptly titled 'Public Access.' Among the pieces on display are a playful bird feeder and many whimsical sitting options. The event also has an indoor component at Brooklyn gallery and bookshop Head Hi.
