Public Bench Interpretation Exhibitions

Eight Designers Form the Works in Progress III Show

The Works in Progress III design exhibition is located in San Francisco as a part of its Art Week. The show is created by eight designers from the Bay Area -- they created their own interpretations of public benches using materials including salvaged local wood or 3D-printed ceramics. The exhibition was curated by designer Kate `Greenberg and Kelly Perumbeti, the co-founder of the studio Office Tangible Space.

The Works in Progress III design show highlights works by designers including Nick Polansky. The curators commissioned the talent to develop bench ideas. They note, "We thought to ourselves: 'How great would it be if the benches in our landscape were highly particular to the craftsperson's perspective, offering an arena for surprise, creativity, and novelty?"
