French company Bio Planète makes a range of oil products for the specialty food market, including a unique hybrid frying oil that "combines the health benefits of a vegetable oil with the delicious taste of butter." The Cooking & Frying Oil with Ghee combines a base of sunflower oil and lactose-free ghee to deliver a frying oil for the health-conscious consumer.
The versatile product has the potential to be used for preparing everything from vegetables to fish, eggs and pasta dishes, or any other recipes where butter would ordinarily be used. On top of having a high smoke point, the oil also has the advantage of being easier to measure and pour than butter in its solid state.
At the same time many consumers are looking to make simple food swaps that support better-for-you eating, many are becoming interested in Ayurveda, the ancient holistic healing system where ghee is highly revered.
