Sculptural Facade Homes

Donaldson + Partners’ Fractal Facade House is a Sculptural Home

The Fractal Facade House is a residential project in Trousdale, Beverly Hills, designed by Donaldson + Partners and situated on a clifftop parcel overlooking downtown Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. The house spans approximately 21,000 square feet and is formed as a low-slung, V-shaped structure that embeds into the hillside, responding to local height regulations while maximising views and connection to the landscape.

The exterior is defined by a complex array of custom glass-reinforced polymer panels arranged in multifaceted angular planes that create a fractal-like facade. These panels, developed on a panel-by-panel basis, are embedded with small shell inclusions to provide a stone-like quality while remaining lightweight and practical. The angular geometry continues into the interior, where folding panels frame windows and architectural features, creating integrated seating nooks and framed sightlines throughout the home.
