Tonana by AG Studio is a rooftop bar located on top of Casa Hoyos in Mexico

— February 4, 2026 — Art & Design
Tonana is a rooftop bar designed by AG Studio and located on top of Casa Hoyos hotel in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The project occupies a terrace overlooking the historic city and is conceived as a spatial installation shaped by material contrast and custom-built elements. The design uses a restrained palette that combines volcanic tezontle stone, marble surfaces, and polished brass details throughout the space.

Volcanic stone is applied across floors and vertical surfaces, creating a textured base that grounds the bar within its regional context. Custom seating and furniture pieces are integrated into the layout, featuring sculptural forms and upholstered finishes in muted pink and burgundy tones. The bar counter incorporates stone and metal elements, with shelving designed to display bottles alongside decorative objects.

Lighting is integrated using warm-toned fixtures positioned to highlight material textures and seating zones while supporting evening use. Water features and planters are distributed across the terrace to define circulation paths and seating areas.
