TAITŌ Poufs are a new furniture release by +kouple, marking the studio’s first expansion into furniture beyond its established lighting work. The design consists of two distinct upholstered pouf silhouettes — each combining square and cylindrical volumes. It functions as elevated seating, ottomans, low lounge seats, or surfaces for casual use. The forms are arranged as oppositional volumes connected through a central cylinder, with one size complementing the other in composition and scale.
The name TAITŌ is derived from a Japanese term meaning “equivalent” and reflects the design’s exploration of balancing geometric volumes. The poufs are constructed with an internal structure of plywood and high-density fiberboard to provide stability and longevity beneath the upholstered surfaces. Upholstery is offered in a curated palette including Black, Grey, Blue, Coral, Green, and Yellow, using contract-grade wool textiles such as Jungla or Fenice selected for durability and tactile warmth. Custom colors and additional fabrics are available on request.
