The Fonda London Restaurant Brings Mexico’s Warmth to Mayfair Interiors

— August 6, 2025 — Art & Design
The Fonda London restaurant by A‑nrd Studio transforms a Mayfair storefront into a vibrant, communal-style dining environment inspired by rural Mexican fondas. Measuring approximately 450 m², the space welcomes visitors through an amber-glazed Kansa glass enclosure into an interior of soft limewash walls and glazed terracotta tiles. At its centre sits an open kitchen that anchors the layout and anchors the narrative—evoking the farmhouse kitchens of Mexico with tactile cherry-stained oak counters and bespoke blue-and-pink tiling.

Design cues include wooden totem sculptures from M.A Estudio, patchwork organza hangings by Fernando Laposse, and a plush pink “sloth” installation suspended above the stairwell. Rustic textures—micro‑cement, cork, woven textiles—and lush planting create an atmosphere that feels both grounded and effortless. The result is a sensory-rich restaurant interior where authenticity, craft, and conviviality meet in a design-forward, dynamic space.
