Finland design studio Merkytis recently redesigned the Finnish currency with a revolutionary gender equality note design that pays tribute to both male and female influential figures. The new design celebrates successful individuals in a variety of industries from the arts to politics.

Often on banknotes male faces dominate with little to no regard for influential women to be recognized. These newly designed Euro currency notes showcase popular figures of both the male and female gender adorning the brightly colored money. Famous figures mentioned include Leena Palotie, Minna Canth, Helvi Leiviska and Paavo Nurmi. The faces adorn anywhere from the ten note to the 1000 note and feature modern bright coloring including bright yellow, fuchsia and even turquoise. The redesign equalities offering tribute to a variety of successful individuals despite their gender.
