Swedish brand Saab may be known to many people as a manufacturer of vehicles, but the company is actually also one of the leading makers of high-tech fighter jets, as evidenced by the release of the brand new Gripen E 39-8 Smart Fighter.

This particular jet is fairly compact, with a wingspan of 8.6 meters and a total length of only 15.2 meters. Despite this, it is capable of handling a sizeable take-off weight of 16,500 kg and it is more than capable of achieving speeds in the region of Mach 2, in excess of 2,450 km/h. Moreover, this fighter jet's engine can be replaced in just one hour, ensuring that there's minimum turnaround between missions.

Military fighter jets need to be easy to maintain and deploy if air force troops are to enjoy an operational advantage. With its compact structure, heavy take-off weight and hassle-free engine deployment setup, the Gripen E 39-8 ticks all the boxes.
