Everything Illuminates by Jiang Pengyi, a Chinese artist living and working between Beijing and Hangzhou, China, is a series of everyday objects that have been turned into glow-in-the-dark sculptures. From candelabras dripping in bright blue wax to an average surface with green sparks between its patterned crevices, the sculptures appear to have been sprinkled with fairy dust.

But instead of employing the help of Tinkerbell, Everything Illuminates by Jiang Pengyi involves the use of fluorescent powders that have been mixed with liquid wax. According to the Hunan-Province-born artist’s statement, these images “suggest the artist’s changing focus back to original form and shape, at the same time reflect his current state of mind.” These commonly found objects are given a magical essence, encouraging people to appreciate them in a different light.
