Adaptive Marble Lamps

The EMIT Marble Lamp Rises for Work and Glows Green When Tasks are Finished

The EMIT Marble Lamp by Alexios Kamaris is a desk lamp concept that combines a solid Carrara marble base with a translucent green shade and a telescoping metal stem. The lamp operates in two positions. In its raised position, the stem extends upward to provide focused task lighting for desk work. When lowered, the shade sits closer to the marble base and emits a soft green ambient glow intended for nonworking hours.

The marble base includes a recessed pen holder carved directly into the stone, integrating storage into the object’s form. A touch-sensitive control embedded in the marble allows users to switch lighting modes with a tap. The contrast between the dense stone base and the illuminated shade defines the lamp’s visual identity while supporting both functional and ambient use on a work surface.
