El Destilado Celebrates Small-Batch and Ancestral Producers

Michael Sager and Marcis Dzelzainis of Sager + Wilde recently partnered with Alex Wolpert of the East London Liquor Company to start a new independent spirits brand known as El Destilado. Unlike any previous alcoholic ventures, El Destilado focuses solely on drinks from Latin America and will launch with 13 agave and sugar cane distillates from Mexico. This inspiration was born out of the trio's time spent traveling Latin America and the desire to share a collection of spirits that showcase the terroir and places they encountered in their travels.
In addition to showcasing Latin American spirits, El Distilado will also work with small, independent producers with batches ranging from 70 to 420 bottles. The first collection of spirits will all come from mezcaleros working outside the confines of Mexico’s Mezcal Regulatory Council and utilizing ancestral artisanal techniques.
