Digital Drumstick Pets

A Viral 90s Toy Inspired KFC's Handheld Virtual Eduardochi

Consumers' craving for nostalgia and their love of all things 90s inspired the creation of Eduardochi, a virtual pet in the form of a chicken drumstick.

In collaboration with creative agency PS21, KFC developed a digital pet that fans can nurture and support as it grows. Rather than adopting the egg-like Tamagotchi shape, KFC's Eduardochi device is sculpted like a drumstick. Fortunately for those who prefer gaming on devices they already own, Eduardochi is also available on KFC's app and website.

Eduardo got its start as a meme in December 2021, when social media users began giving Spanish names to everyday objects—and a fried chicken drumstick was dubbed Eduardo. Since then, Eduardo has gone on to inspire other unconventional releases from the quick-serve restaurant.
