Romance-Inducing Benches

The East Japan Railway Company's Love Love Bench Brings People Together

In order to spark some romance, the East Japan Railway Company installed the 'Love Love Bench' at two of its stations. The bench looks like it's been karate-chopped right in half, causing both ends of the seat to slant towards the middle. The idea is that if someone was to sit on the Love Love Bench, gravity would do most of the work in physically bringing two people together.

The benches at Shimontoshi's Ekawasaki Station and Tsubojiri Station in Miyoshi are situated in places with relatively low populations, which only see about two passengers per day on average. The intimate spots are just out of the way enough for a couple to get acquainted without tons of people around, however the benches might be reason enough for some travellers to go out of their way to visit the stations.
