It can be considered social and even intimate to share a bench with another person, but a truly personal experience may be more easily achieved where eye contact is possible. The Earhart Bench facilitates this by offering a pair of backrests on opposite sides of the seat.
Luca Nichetto used honeycomb aluminum with which to manufacture this piece of versatile indoor-outdoor furniture. Its planar parts with the smoothed corners make it visually reminiscent of an airplane -- hence the inspiration for its pilot-influenced name.
When two people sit upon the Earhart Bench, they can lean back and look at each other. The arrangement encourages conversation and opens up both parties to 360 degrees of their surroundings. It's a great addition to the center of a room or amidst an absorbing landscape.
