Global Love Campaigns

This Diamond Ad Campaign Shows How Love is Expressed Around the World

Artist Elly Walton illustrated a series of images as part of a diamond ad campaign for the London-based company Vashi Diamonds. The brightly colored pictures consider how love is expressed in different countries around the world, translating their meanings to English for some pretty hilarious results.

The translation of the Japanese phrase "An unobtainable object of desire" is said to be "A flower on a high peak," displayed in the ad with hands and an ice pick clawing their way up an impossibly steep mountain towards a beautiful flower. Another shows a Greek phrase which means "to have a crush," however translates to "to bite the metal sheet." Here, a man smiles as he is about to crunch his teeth into a sandwich made from metal plates.
