Solar-Powered Cubicle Living

Bridge Studio on Fogo Island

Bridge Studio is an artist's retreat that is located on Fogo Island in Canada, and is one of four completed structures that were created by Saunders Architecture. Six will be completed in total, and the purpose of implementing these studios is to conserve Fogo Island's scenery and culture.

Shorefast Foundation and the Fogo Island Arts Corporation teamed together to preserve the island's natural historic beauty. Fogo Island is located in a remote area of Newfoundland severely removed from society, and the cubicle is surrounded by a bay, rocks, and rolling hills. This artist's studio is only accessible by a bridge where inside there is a desk, windows, wood-burning stove, and it is run through solar-power technology. Maintaining Canada's culture and arts is very important, and this project is a great example of advancements in solar-powered technology.
