The Nest cabin by Daria Sheina Studio is an off-grid structure composed of two rotated wooden volumes set on a forested site in British Columbia. The lower level contains the living area, kitchen, and bathroom, and the upper level includes a small lounge and sleeping space placed beneath a tilted skylight. Large windows and sliding openings frame views of the surrounding trees and coastline, bringing natural light into the compact rooms. The exterior is finished in simple timber cladding, so the cabin settles visually into the landscape.
The building runs on solar power and uses a rainwater collection system with on site filtration. Waste is managed through an incinerating toilet, reducing the need for external services. The prefabricated modules were transported to the island and assembled with minimal ground disturbance. The design focuses on efficient layout, sustainable systems and a clear connection to the forest setting.
