New York City might be one of the most crowded cities in the world, making the issue of population density a great one when it comes to discussing living and workspaces. Design firm 100architects recently put together a conceptual design called the Vertical Times that offers a cylindric skyscraper in Times Square engineered for recreational use. The unique style of the building with circular levels maximizes on vertical space without taking up too much space at the base.
The Vertical Times' design is founded on the idea of using as little floor space as needed, while maximizing the building's upright layout. The tower features a metallic beam that runs through the centre connecting various circular levels together. The levels can be used to accommodate housing, offices or recreational space in a busy, urban setting.
