'Papa' is a provider of companionship services that promises to help connect senior citizens to "grandkids on demand," or college students who are able to provide everything from help around the house to transportation and lessons on using technology.

While there are plenty of on-demand services that help to connect people for the purposes of getting a task done, Papa sets itself apart by putting people first and foremost—and in the process of doing so, it helps to address the issue of loneliness that troubles many elderly people.

Papa founder Andrew Parker was inspired to create the companionship service after his own experience with an aging family member. When traditional home care services didn't quite cut it, working with college students proved to be a success and Parker created an entire app around the idea.
