It's deviant, and sadly, that's why I like it. A New Zealand ad firm has cranked up the competition in the coffee world by branding garbage cans outside competitor coffee shops. The garbage cans look like coffee cups, complete with stir sticks. The label: "Coffee Taste Like Cr*p?".
Implications - Ads like this are decidedly more confrontational than you might traditionally expect, but there is no doubt that it is exactly the kind of campaign that consumers would talk about for weeks after their encounter with it. When you are trying to make an impression on your target market, the importance of this kind of lasting impact simply can't be understated.
